Hunting Down a Hidden Photo Spot in Mallorca

P.s. Not really a secret

Not long ago, while scrolling through a photography group I’d joined, one post immediately grabbed my attention. It was a striking photo of a couple standing on a dramatic rock formation by the sea. The poster was asking if anyone knew the exact location. A handful of replies trickled in, but none were conclusive.

That was all it took to spark the detective in me.

A quick Google reverse image search led me to dozens of shots of the same spot, but frustratingly, none gave a clear pin on the map. “Arta, Mallorca” was the closest clue. The mountains in the background felt familiar, and as a resident here, I trusted my instinct. After a little more digging and some time zooming around Street View, I narrowed it down to a particular stretch of coastline.

Perfect timing—an old friend was visiting from the UK, so I turned the mystery into a day trip. Our first target was Cala Clara, a 3.5-kilometer hike along the cliffs from the small village of Betlem. The walk itself was stunning—towering cliffs, sea views, and plenty of photo opportunities—but after combing the area, we still couldn’t match the rock formation. A bit disappointed, we wandered back to the car and treated ourselves to ice creams in Betlem while I regrouped.

Then I remembered something from my scuba diving days: another spot with the same kind of rock shapes, facing the right direction. Twenty minutes later, we pulled up at a coastal trailhead leading into a nature reserve. Within minutes of hiking, I spotted something on the horizon that looked promising. My pace quickened. Rounding a small headland, I suddenly found myself staring at the exact scene from the photograph—minus the couple.

And here’s the thing: it was even more impressive in person.

My friend offered to step in as an impromptu model, so I grabbed a few shots and saved the GPS coordinates for future shoots. What started as a small online mystery turned into a memorable morning of exploration, photography, and wandering through some of Mallorca’s most beautiful countryside.

If anyone’s genuinely curious about the exact location, just drop me a private message—I’ll happily share the coordinates.
